Lectures on the Frontiers of Space Technology Applications —— Thermal Control System Design and Test for APSCO SSS-1 Satellite

At the invitation of the Centre, Associate Professor Chen Shenyan in School of Astronautics, Beihang University (BUAA), will give a lecture on the Frontiers of Space Technology Applications on Tencent Meeting on April 29th.

This lecture series is open to participants from the Centre, and interested students and faculty from both on and off campus are also welcome to attend.

Chen Shenyan is now an associate professor in School of Astronautics, Beihang University (BUAA). She gives courses to both Chinese and foreign students on the major of Aerospace Engineering for 16 years. She is working for the APSCO Student Small Satellite project (APSCO-SSS) and is responsible for the structure & mechanism & thermal control subsystem. She joined to develop the curriculum of MASTA program of the Micro-Satellite Technology, and was invited as one of the responsible professors by the Regional Centre for Space Science and Technology Education in Asia and the Pacific (China). Her interested research areas include structural optimization and its engineering application, structural analysis and design for spacecraft, composite structure analysis and optimization. In the last years, she joined series research projects on structural optimization and advanced design technology for engineering structures. She developed a new style Engineering Structural Optimization System of Spacecraft – ESOSSII, which has been successfully applied in structural optimization of several satellites. She completed a project in supporting research of topology optimization by National Natural Science Foundation during 2011-2014. She worked for two international corporation projects on space debris. She was invited as keynote speakers and session chairs in several international conferences. She has published or presented more than 70 papers in journals and international conferences.
