Hosted the Global Networking Forum(GNF) on International Space Education for the 65th International Astronautical Congress (IAC)

Beihang University and Chinese Society of Astronautics jointly planned and  launched the Global Networking Forum(GNF) on International Space Education for the 65th International Astronautical Congress (IAC) on September 29, 2014. The theme of GNF was “International Space Education Change and Challenge”. Experts from United Nations Office for Outer Space Affairs (UNOOSA), Space Generation Advisory Council (SGAC), Asia-Pacific Space Cooperation Organization (APSCO) and Beihang University were invited to deliver reports on the forum, and to discuss current situation and achievements of international space education as well as opportunities and challenges ahead. Delegates from , America, Austria , German, Switzerland and China all aired their views and contributed to a very informative discussion.


Mr. Tao Zhi, the Secretary General of Chinese Society of Astronautics and Vice President of Beihang University, addressed the forum. Mr. Weng Jingnong, the Vice Dean of International School of Beihang University chaired the forum.

During the session, Mr. Tao Zhi, the Vice President of Beihang University met with Ms. Simonetta Di Pippo, the Director of the Office for Outer Space Affairs (UNOOSA), and held pleasant conversation. Ms. Simonetta Di Pippo readily accepted the invitation to the first meeting of the Governing Board and the Inauguration Ceremony for the Centre at Beihang University on November 17, 2014.




In addition, Mr. Tao Zhi, the Vice President visited Mr. Xu Weiya, the Education Consul from Education Office of the Consulate-General of the PRC in Toronto, discussing the talent recruitment in details. He also called on Mr. Cui Dingjun, the head of Alumni Association in Toronto, sending kind regards to all Beihang University alumni. The president of École Polytechnique Fédérale de Lausanne (EPFL) and Mr. Tao Zhi fully shared views on subjects such as exchanges of students and teachers, and formulated the next work plan.
