Satellite Application and Research Center of China Geological Survey International
On April 6th, 2017, participants of the Centre went to Satellite Application and Research Center of China Geological Survey International for a visit.
Mr. Xiao Chenchao, Senior Engineer, gave an excellent lecture titled “Satellite Remote Sensing Technology and Geological Application”. He introduced status quo of BeiDou Navigation Satellite System and GF-1, and minutely interpreted InSAR and its applications in geological survey, image analysis and commercial area.
Ms. Dong Lina, Senior Engineer, gave a demonstration of Land and Resource Satellite Application System through eight parts including task control, data collection, data processing, interpret charting, field survey, sharing&service, data support and operation management.
The participants listened to the report carefully and raised questions about satellite remote sensing technology, international services of domestic data, etc.
VARGAS CUENTAS NATALIA INDIRA, a participant from Bolivia majoring in RS&GIS, said, “ The visit has been very enriching for us as future professionals as we have been shown to the organization of this research center. In addition, we can see how the remote sensing technology and geological applications have relevance to the real problems in our world. My favorite part was when they performed a detailed demonstration of their image processing and management software called “Land and Resource Satellite Application System.”
Then, they visited the exhibition hall. The experts there introduced the history, development and technological achievements of Satellite Application and Research Center of China Geological Survey International, through which the participants knew more about how important remote sensing technology was in fundamental geology, mineral resource, water conservancy, agriculture, military, urban construction, earth prevention and disaster mitigation. They said that they would cherish the opportunity of studying at the UN Regional Centre in China and would like to make positive contribution to space technology development and multinational cooperation in the future.
