In response to the call of the 34th International Week of Science and Peace, to spread the spirit of science and advocate the concept of peace, the Centre and Senior Professors Report Group of Beihang University jointly organized a lecture in the form of a combination of online broadcast and live interaction in the morning of November 10, with the support of the China Organizing Committee of the International Week of Science and Peace.
Representatives from the China Organizing Committee of the International Week of Science and Peace, Mr. Chen Yixiong, Deputy Director and Secretary General, and Mr. Zhang Dong, Deputy Secretary General; as well as representatives from Senior Professors Association, Prof. Zheng Yanliang, Executive Vice President, Prof. Chen Zhiying, Vice President, Prof. Xu Yanghe, Advisor, and the Chief Expert of the Aerospace Museum, Mr. Han Jun, Senior Curator, attended the event. The event was hosted by Prof. Weng Jingnong, Dean of International School, and Executive Director of the Centre. International students from different countries participated in the lecture offline.
Prof. He Linshu combined his professional knowledge with rich video and picture resources in the lecture, vividly introduced the composition and formation history of China’s Space Station, interpreted the special environment of space station, explained the fascinating frontier content such as weightlessness science experiments and space observation science experiments, and made an outlook on the international cooperation and future of China’s Space Station.
The lecture was widely welcomed, and the response was enthusiastic. International students were deeply attracted by Prof. He’s lecture and expressed their sincere admiration for China’s independent construction of space station. The domestic and foreign listeners who participated online also left their comments and praises. A foreign student said that cooperation in building and using the space station is beneficial to the well-being of the world’s people, and all countries should adhere to the vision of a community with a shared future, live in peace and work together to build our planet.
Mr. Chen Yixiong expressed the significance of this lecture and called on all countries in the world to join hands and work together. On behalf of China Organizing Committee of the International Week of Science and Peace, Mr. Chen Yixiong presented the Centre with the award of “Outstanding Activity Organizing Unit”, commemorative certificate and a hand-written calligraphy work “Ode to Peace”. He also presented a certificate of honor to Prof. He Linshu and Senior Professors Association, thanked them for their long-term participation in the cultivation of aerospace talents and moral education.
On representative of the Centre, Prof. Weng Jingnong presented souvenirs to Mr. Chen Yixiong and Prof. Zheng Yanliang.
Prof. Zheng Yanliang said that the concept of peaceful development and basic science for sustainable development of the world advocated by Peace Week and Science Day is invaluable.
After the lecture, Mr. Chen Yixiong, Senior Professors Report Group members came to the Centre to visit and exchange ideas, and further understand the Centre. They highly praised the Centre’s positive contribution to talent cultivation and expressed their hope to continue to deepen the cooperation and exchange and carry out more wonderful and beneficial scientific activities.
