On May 31, 2023, the 2023 “Journey of Chinese Aerospace Technology and Culture” set off for the seventh stop. More than fifty (50) participants from the Centre visited the headquarters of Asia Pacific Space Cooperation Organization (APSCO) under the guidance of teachers.
Ms. Yu Qi, Secretary General of APSCO, and directors of various departments extended a warm welcome to the visiting participants. Dr. Mohammad Ebrahimi Seyedabadi, Director of the Education and Training Department, hosted the visit and introduced the development history, organizational structure, cooperation projects, education and training of APSCO to the participants, and highlighted the APSCO Student Small Satellite (APSCO SSS) Project led by Beihang University. He further encouraged the participants to study hard and accumulate experience to contribute to the future international cooperation in space technology.
Afterwards, the participants were guided by Dr. Ebrahimi to visit the exhibition hall on the first floor. The exquisite space exhibits recorded the space stories of various countries as well as the history and achievements of APSCO in the space field for more than ten years.
The visit allowed the participants to learn more about APSCO and have a deeper sense of identification with the work of APSCO. They expressed their gratitude to APSCO for its contribution to promoting multilateral cooperation in space technology among its Member States, and hoped to become a part of space cooperation projects after their studies.
The Asia-Pacific Space Cooperation Organization (APSCO) was officially established in Beijing in 2008, which is an international organization led by China as the host country. As an inter-governmental organization, APSCO provides a cooperative mechanism and support to countries in the Asia-Pacific region, especially developing countries, and is committed to promoting the peaceful uses of outer space among its Member States.
Since the establishment of APSCO, the cooperation between Beihang University and APSCO on international talent training in space field has been continuously deepened. In 2013, approved by the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology of the People’s Republic of China, APSCO Education and Training Center in China relying on Beihang University was set up. In 2018, the APSCO SSS Micro-satellite Mission Control Center was built in Beihang University, announcing that our university has the ability to network with APSCO Member States.
