Background
Regional Centre for Space Science and Technology Education in Asia and the Pacific (China) (Affiliated to the Union Nations) (RCSSTEAP for short) has been established for eight (8) years since October 2014. The Centre has been following the development model of “University Based, Government Supported, International Joint, and Industry Participation (UGII)”, closely obeying the UN initiative of “Promoting the peaceful use of space technologies for the benefit of all humankind”, joining hands with ten (10) Member States to contribute to the international space industry.
In 2022, China’s space industry has made great progress. The number of launches of space launch vehicle has reached a new record, and several major space projects have achieved landmark results: On February 27, CZ-8 Y2 carrier rocket successfully launched with twenty-two (22) satellites, creating a new record of “one rocket, multiple satellites” in China’s space industry. On March 29, “CZ-6A,” the first solid-bundled medium-sized carrier rocket, successfully made its maiden flight, achieving a series of new technological breakthroughs such as solid-bundling in China. On August 26, the reusable sub-orbital space carrier made its first successful repeated-use experiment flight test, promoting China’s aerospace transportation technology from disposable to repeatable usage. On October 9, the space science satellite “KuaFu-1” was successfully launched with the scientific objective of “one magnetic field and two bursts,” conducting a large number of in-orbit tests and observations of the Sun, and the quality of many scientific images obtained from it has reached the international leading level. In terms of manned spaceflight, a total of six (6) launches were carried out in 2022, sending the Tianzhou-4 cargo spacecraft, the Shenzhou-14 manned spacecraft, the Wentian lab module, the Mengtian lab module, the Tianzhou-5 cargo spacecraft, and the Shenzhou-15 manned spacecraft into space. On November 3, the Mengtian lab module completed its transposition operation smoothly, and the “T-shaped” basic configuration of the China’s Space Station was assembled in orbit. On November 30, the two crews of the Shenzhou-15 and Shenzhou-14 spacecraft accomplished a “victory meeting” in space. Since then, all twelve (12) launch missions of the key technology verification and construction phase of China’s space station have been completed, and the space station officially entered the long-term manned mode.
With ideals in mind and a down-to-earth faith, space workers in China have developed a path of self-reliance and independent innovation, and have accumulated a profound and broad space spirit. This spirit has been passed down from generation to generation like a lighthouse, guiding all Chinese people to work hard and strive for the great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation. Flying to the sky to embrace the stars and building dreams among the galaxy, the Chinese nation will never stop running to explore the oceans of stars, while the spirit and strength of China will continue to shine brightly in the vast universe.
Objective
In order to celebrate the arrival of the 8th China Space Day and better expand influence of China Space Day, carry on the spirit of space, inspire people from all walks of life in China and abroad, especially the enthusiasm of teenagers to admire science, explore the unknown and dare to innovate, RCSSTEAP hereby holds Poster Design Contest for China Space Day 2023.
