On June17th,2015, “Painting Exhibition on China’s Space Exploration——Flying with the Wings of art”, which was jointly organized by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and China National Space Administration, was held successfully in the Mozart Hall of Vienna International Center. More than 20 pieces of paintings on China’s space exploration and achievements created by Dr. Gong Haoqin from the Department of Industrial Design at Beihang University was on exhibition.
Before the opening ceremony of Painting Exhibition, Weng Jingnong, Executive Director of the Center, gave a technical report on the fifty-eighth session of COPUOS to introduce the achievements Center has made ever since foundation and its future path of development in details, which arouse worldwide concern and was highly praised.
Ms. Simonetta Di Pippo, Director of the Office for Outer Space Affairs (UNOOSA) fully affirmed the significance of this exhibition and commanded the efforts made in space exploration by China in her speech at the opening ceremony. The Painting Exhibition drew a crowd of more than 200 people, who were delegates of the fifty-eighth session of COPUOS.They spoke highly of China’s achievements in space after visiting the exhibition and watching a short movie on the Center.
The Painting Exhibitionwas followed by a telephone review with Weng Jingnong and Gong Haoqing given by the United Nations Radio, which lasted for about one hour. During the telephone review, they intensively made exchanges and introduced the Center’s achievements and its future development concepts, displaying that the Center plays an important role to promote the capabilities of developing countries in Space field, and establishing the Center’s fine image in accelerating international cooperation in outer space and developing capacity-buildings.
