On May 1, 2023, Dr. Awni Mohammad Saleh Kasawneh, Secretary-General of Arab Union for Astronomy & Space Sciences (AUASS), Dr. Hani Hamed Hmoud Al-dmour, President of Al al-Bayt University, and Ms. Aisha Jagirani, Director-General of Department of External Relations and Legal Affairs, APSCO visited the Centre. They were warmly welcomed by Dr. Jin Tian, Deputy Director of Department of Academic Affairs, Dr. Zhai Yikai, Director of Teaching Resource Construction Office of Department of Academic Affairs, Dr. Yang Dongkai and Mrs. Xiu Chundi, Experts of GNSS of the Centre, and Dr. Huang Hai, Expert of the Micro-satellite Technology.
Dr. Awni Mohammad Saleh Kasawneh introduced the space development in Jordan from the aspects of institutional setup, education and training, international cooperation, scientific research development and faculty, especially the education and teaching in the field of space carried out by the AUASS and Al-Bayt University of Jordan. Deputy Director Jin Tian presented the progress made in education and training, international exchange and capacity building since the establishment of the Centre, particularly the successful launch of APSCO SSS-1, which marked a milestone for the talent training of the Centre. After that, the two sides exchanged views on joint training, curriculum construction, academic exchanges and mutual visits, scientific research cooperation and other matters, and then signed a Memorandum of Cooperation.
The delegation also visited the construction and development gallery of the Centre, Micro-satellite Mission Control Center, Remote Sensing & GIS Lab, smart classroom, participant archives, STA library, and the smart classrooms in the Main Building of Beihang University.
Arab Union for Astronomy and Space Sciences (AUASS) was established in 1998 as a non-profit academic society to advance astronomy and related space sciences in the Arab region. Al-Bayt University, which was founded in 1993, is one of the core institutions for research and development in the field of space science in the Arab region.
