Ms. Mazlan Othman, Former Director of UNOOSA, Visited the Centre

On April 21, 2023, Ms. Mazlan Othman, Former Director of the United Nations Office for Outer Space Affairs (UNOOSA), Malaysian astrophysicist and Academician of the Malaysian Academy of Sciences, visited the Centre again after a few years. Mr. Weng Jingnong, Executive Director of the Centre and Director of the International Cooperation Department of Beihang University, together with Mr. Huang Hai, Expert in the direction of small satellites, and other staff warmly welcomed and introduced to Ms. Mazlan Othman the new achievements and developments of the Centre in recent years.

Ms. Mazlan Othman was interested in Micro-satellite Mission Control Center, which is located in the Centre. Prof. Huang Hai showed Ms. Mazlan Othman the current location and trajectory of the satellite through the large screen of the control center and presented the satellite’s telemetry data. APSCO SSS-1 was successfully launched in October 2021, and has been in orbit for one and a half years. The satellite is in good condition, with normal power supply and distribution on the platform, stable satellite attitude, smooth telemetry and digital transmission channels, and all payload tasks have been effectively verified.

Ms. Mazlan Othman further exchanged views on the future development plan and the construction of new majors of the Centre with Mr. Weng Jingnong, and fully affirmed the work of the Centre.

In addition, Ms. Mazlan Othman visited the “Lunar Palace 1” laboratory of the School of Biological Science and Medical Engineering of Beihang University, and had a talk with the teachers and students of the team.
