From October 15 to 20, the 17th Meeting of the International Committee on Global Navigation Satellite Systems (ICG-17) was held in Madrid, capital of Spain. The meeting was attended by nearly 300 representatives from global and regional satellite navigation system providers, ICG member countries, ICG associate members, as well as other relevant organizations.
Dr. Xiu Chundi, an expert in the direction of Global Navigation Satellite System of the Centre, and Ms. Guo Yuanyuan, the program director of the Centre, participated in the meeting, focused on the Working Group C Session on “Information Dissemination and Capacity Building”, the joint meeting of the Working Groups, and the plenary session. Dr. Xiu Chundi delivered a report on “RCSSTEAP International Education and Capacity Building on BDS/GNSS” at the meeting of Group C. She mainly introduced the latest progress and achievements of the Centre on international education, cooperation and capacity-building in BeiDou/GNSS, as well as the focus of work of the Centre in 2024, and released the enrollment information of 2024 degree program.
During the meeting, representatives of the Centre had in-depth exchanges and extensive discussions with other participants on the work related to education and training topics, and suggested to further expanding cooperation through the platform of the Centre, promoting joint consultation, construction and sharing among Regional Centres under the framework of ICG, and to further enhance the capacity of international talent training in satellite navigation.
As one of the information distribution centers of ICG, the Centre has been carrying out in-depth research and closely following the topics of education and training and capacity building of ICG. The representatives of the Centre have actively expressing their voices at the meeting, which has steadily enhanced the international influence of BDS and promoted BDS’s going global and at the same time made important contributions to the sustainable development, expansion of exchanges and cooperation of the Centre.
