On November 8, 2023, the 2023 “Journey of Chinese Space Technology and Culture” set off for the 8th stop. Aimed at providing a close-up experience of the brilliant achievements of China’s space industry, learning about China’s space project management, and experiencing the spirit and culture of China’s space, the Centre organized forty-two (42) participants from twelve (12) countries to visit the China Space Museum for a professional tour, and participate in a thematic study and exchange on space project management. Mr. Li Yong, Deputy Director of the China Academy of Launch Vehicle Technology (CALT), Mr. Jia Shengwei, Director of the International Business Department of the CALT, Mr. Jia Yunhao, Executive Deputy Director of the China Space Museum, and relevant staff warmly welcomed these participants.

The participants first visited the China Space Museum, where they learned about the history of the development of China’s space industry under the guidance of the lecturers, got acquainted with China’s major projects in manned-spaceflight and deep-space exploration, as well as the capacity of the Chang Zheng (CZ) series of carrier rockets and China’s capabilities in entering space. During the visit, participants were impressed by the development of China’s space industry and its culture of space spirit.

Then, these participants went to the Chang Zheng Training Centre to listen to the lecture presented by experts from the International Business Department of the CALT on the theme of “Experience the Historical Development of China’s Space Industry and Explore the Approaches of China’s Space Project Management”. From the aspects of China’s space spirit, culture and project management, the participants gained insights into the development process of China’s space industry from its arduous start to self-reliance, and then to the achievements made today through diligent exploration, and learnt the practical experience of space project management. At the lecture site, the participants had a full interactive exchange with the experts.

This event provided the participants of the Centre with a deeper understanding of the development of China’s space industry and its spirit, and it was also the first time that the Centre opened a special lecture on space project management for participants, which further broadened their perspectives, and laid a solid foundation for the implementation of the subsequent series of lectures on space project management.
