On 27 November 2025, Professor Wahyudi Hasbi, Visiting Professor at the Regional Centre for Space Science and Technology Education in Asia and the Pacific (China) (affiliated with the United Nations) (RCSSTEAP), and Head of the Satellite Technology Research Centre at Indonesia's National Research and Innovation Agency (BRIN), was honored with the 2025 Nurtanio Aerospace Award at a ceremony held at the BJ Habibie Building in Jakarta. The ceremony was attended by the Chinese Ambassador to Indonesia. Established in 2022, the award recognizes scientists and engineering professionals who have made exceptional contributions to the aerospace industry.

Professor Hasbi spearheaded the development of several flagship Indonesian satellite missions, including LAPAN-A1/TUBSAT, LAPAN-A2/ORARI, and LAPAN-A3/IPB, and is widely regarded as a key driver behind Indonesia's micro- and nanosatellite programs. He has also supervised multiple student satellite projects, such as Surya Satellite-1 and RIDUSAT-1, laying a solid foundation for cultivating aerospace talent in Indonesia.
In a congratulatory video message played during the ceremony, Professor Jing Guifei, Deputy Director of RCSSTEAP, extended warm congratulations to Professor Hasbi on behalf of the Centre. He highly commended Professor Hasbi's contributions to satellite technology development, space education cooperation, and regional capacity-building, and expressed hope for deeper collaboration in research and development, talent cultivation, and international exchanges.
Professor Hasbi's distinguished achievements further underscore his award-winning stature. He has authored over 70 journal articles and books and holds multiple patents on satellites and their key components, including equatorial constellation satellites, antenna systems, and reaction wheels. A frequent keynote speaker at international conferences, he is also a recipient of the 2016 Satyalancana Wirakarya, awarded by the President of Indonesia, and the Innovation Heroes 2022 Award.

RCSSTEAP extended its heartfelt congratulations to Professor Hasbi and looks forward to continued cooperation in satellite engineering, talent cultivation, scientific research, and Beidou/GNSS international education, to jointly advance space science and technology education across the Asia-Pacific region.
