The African union delegation visited the Centre

On October 10, 2019, the African Union delegation composed of Mr. Mahama Ouedraogo, Director of Human Resources, Science and Technology (HRST), Mr. Hambani Masheleni, Acting Head of S&T Division, HRST, Mr. Tidiane Ouattara, Space Expert and GMES & Africa Coordinator, HRST and Mr. Mukilia Kennedy, Policy Officer, Infrastructure and Marketing, Department of Rural Economy and Agriculture (DREA) visited the Regional Centre for Space Science and Technology Education in Asia and the Pacific (China) (affiliated to the United Nations) (referred to as the Centre). Mr. Wang Fengyu, Deputy Division Director of International Cooperation Department, CNSA accompanied the delegation. Mr. Weng Jingong, Executive Director of the Centre, Dean of the International School and staff of the Centre warmly welcomed the guests.




Mr. Weng Jingnong gave a detailed introduction on the development, degree training, short-term training, capacity building, faculty team, international exchanges and special events of the Centre. Mr. Mahama Ouedraogo, Director of Human Resources, Science and Technology (HRST) said that through this visit, he had a deeper understanding of the organization and training model of the Centre. He greatly appreciated the achievements that the Centre had achieved in the past five (5) years and expressed strong desire of cooperation with the Centre. The two sides exchanged views on the next step of cooperation and reached a number of cooperation intentions.






After the meeting, the delegation visited the small-satellite ground monitoring and control center, smart classroom, distance learning and video conference room, Remote Sensing and GIS teaching laboratory, Centre archives and STA library, training classroom, Centre construction development gallery, window display of Newsletters and publications, participant archives and graduation papers, etc.






The African union delegation came from the AU headquarters in Ethiopia. During the visit, they also exchanged with African students studying at Beihang.
