The Former Director of UNOOSA Ms. Mazlan Othman Was Invited to Give Lectures at the Centre

Ms. Mazlan Othman, the former Director of the United Nations Office for Outer Space Affairs (UNOOSA) visited the Centre from 6th to 10th March, 2016 and gave lectures on “Hot Topics on Space Law”, which attracted a great many Chinese and foreign teachers and students from different schools of Beihang University.



This series of lectures mainly focused on space and public policies, consensus building in the United Nations, work process and documents of Long-term sustainable development of UNOOSA, to name a few. The participants appreciated the rich and diverse content as well as the teaching methods, which extended their knowledge in the field of space law as well as developed minds.





During the visit, Ms. Mazlan Othman visited the Centre and had an in-depth exchange of views on cultivation of space law talents as well as the development of the Centre with Mr. Huang Haijun, Vice President of Beihang University and Mr. Weng Jingnong, Deputy Director of the Centre, Dean of International School, Beihang University.





Ms. Mazlan Othman also had a full discussion with experts of the Centre on the development of “Space Technology Applications” program and reached a consensus on the integration of high-quality teaching and research resources at home and abroad as well as the establishment of a long-term cooperation mechanism internationally.



In addition, Ms. Mazlan Othman visited the laboratory "Lunar Palace 1" located on the campus of Beihang University and spoke highly of its advanced scientific research in the field of space science and technology.



What’s more, Ms. Mazlan Othman exchanged ideas with China National Space Administration (CNSA), Asia-Pacific Space Cooperation Organization (APSCO) and China Great Wall Industry Corporation on space international cooperation broadly during her visit in Beijing.
