Four Participants of the Centre Delivered Keynote Speeches on First China-Latin American and Caribbean States Space Cooperation Forum

From April 24 to 26, 2024, the 1st “China-Latin American and Caribbean States Space Cooperation Forum” were successfully held in Wuhan, China, in conjunction with the “2024 Space Day of China” series of events.

The Forum consisted of an opening ceremony, a plenary session and four sub-forums, focusing on Space Infrastructure for Sustainable Socio-economic Development, Deep Space Exploration and Space Science, Innovation and Development of the Aerospace Industry Chain, Global Governance of Outer Space, and Capacity Building.

In the sub-forum of “Innovation and Development of the Aerospace Industry Chain”, Mr. Francisco Varela, Venezuelan alumnus of the Centre and Director of Space Segment of Bolivarian Agency for Space Activities (ABAE), made a keynote report on “Utilization of Optimization Technology for Fitting Radar Payloads; Mr. Gustavo Henríquez Camacho, Peruvian alumnus of the Centre and Head of Cooperation and International Affairs of Peruvian Space Agency, made a keynote report on “Peru Satellite Remote Sensing Experience.

Two participants of the Centre were invited to make keynote reports at the sub-forum of “Space Infrastructure for Sustainable Socio-economic Development”. Mr. Franz Lopez, Bolivian Participant of the Centre and Expert of Bolivian Space Agency in Remote Sensing Data, made a report entitled “Development and Future Cooperation Prospects of National Remote Sensing Applications in Bolivia”; Mr. Mercado Arturo, Venezuelan Participant of the Centre and Expert of Venezuelan Space Agency in Satellite Engineering, made a report entitled “Application of VRSS 1 and VRSS 2 in Venezuela.

The above reports revolved around the current development trends of the satellite industry, space technology infrastructure and corresponding application in the field of remote sensing, attracting the attention from many attendees.

In the 2024 China-Latin American and Caribbean States Space Cooperation Forum, we were pleased to witness that many alumni of the Centre have become the backbone in space industry of their countries as well as the bridge for the cooperation of China-Latin American and Caribbean States. During the Forum, participants of the Centre communicated with representatives of many countries, making a great contribution to the construction of China-LatAm Community with a Shared Future.
