今年，中心42名学员参加了HSK汉语二级考试并全员通过，其中有三位学员取得了满分的好成绩，他们分别是来自泰国的SEWEEWANLOP SURUCCHAWADI、来自尼日利亚的AGBAJE HALIMAH ADEBIMPE和来自土耳其的YAVUZ UMUT。就汉语学习和HSK考试，他们想要和同学们分享他们的宝贵经验，以此激励其他学员，培养他们学习汉语的兴趣和热情。
“First, I will like to say that I never knew a word in Chinese before coming to China. My first day in Chinese class was not funny because I was completely lost. With the efforts of Zhang laoshi and regular study, I was able to overcome some challenges. I made sure that I bought the text book which was recommended and installed the audio guide on my laptop. After class, I tried to read what was thought in the class and afterwards, listen to the audio.
Learning Chinese was not very easy. For me, punctuality in class, attentiveness, interest, efforts and dedication works. I made sure I attended all classes and attend to the assignments given by laoshi. In preparation for the HSK, the mock exam conducted was of great help because I wouldn’t have known how best to prepare. After the result of mock exam came out and I scored 155, I knew I can still do better and this made me to study more. My friends, Farouq, Aimen Ahmed, Etagegn and Farhana were also of help because we revised together at one point or the other and this made me comprehend more.
I will like to appreciate Zhang laoshi for her efforts in teaching us and the International School for giving us the opportunity.”

“As a very new learner who never studied or got exposed to Chinese language before, learning a new language is definitely a big challenge for me. But what makes me different from other students is my purpose of learning the language. I do not simply want to pass the compulsory Chinese courses, but also to reach the level where I could translate conversations, editorials, articles, news, media from English to Chinese and vice versa.
Steps that I take towards the HSK exam:
1. Focus on listening. Since learning the new language can sound like undifferentiated noise at the beginning. By getting used to the sounds, sometimes I read it out whatever I am listening to, so as to get a better sense of what I am hearing. Simply speaking, try to get a little momentum in the language, which is a beauty of each language.
Tips: Podcasts on YouTube are very useful. Once I already got a toe gold on the language, my motivation to learn more grew.
2. Get the Rhythm of the language to master the tones. One of the challenges of Mandarin is the tones. Luckily, as a Thai native speaker I was born speaking in 5 different tones, so the tones in Mandarin are not a big challenge for me. However, for those foreigners out there who are not used to the concept of the tones, it is important to internalize the tones as part of phrases. Listening also helps you do this. You can’t learn it theoretically. I found listening to Chinese short movies (with subtitles) a great way to get the rhythm of the tones.
3. Focus on patterns, don’t get too caught up in complicated grammar explanations. Which is how the language worked. To me, the patterns are the frames around which I could build whatever I wanted to say. It is better to get used to the patterns that Chinese uses to express things we express in English, than using English patterns.
4. Speak a lot, put on your thick face, then ignore those judgmental people. Every time I use the language, I am practicing and getting used to it. Make myself enjoy communicating in Chinese, go with the flow, try to recognize some words that I already know from classes and form together with newly learned words, then I know the new meaning.”

“In the first year of my Master Program I took Chinese language lessons 4 hours/per week. I was really interested in learning Chinese language in order to communicate with very kind and nice Chinese people and adapt to Chinese culture.
Living in China and learning Chinese language are really exotic. I tried to attend all classes every week. I listened to the teacher carefully and tried to be active during the classes. But I think the important thing is to use every single word you learned in class in daily life while you’re in China. So, I suggest people to attend classes, to use the new words and make sentences in daily life. Chinese people are really friendly, you can easily make Chinese friends to practice and improve your Chinese.”
